Williams’ Top-10 finishes pace NACC at Victor Icebreaker Track and Field Duals
Braxton Williams posted a pair of Top-10 finishes for the Northeast Alabama Community College men's track and field team during a meet that featured athletes from various levels of NCAA, NJCAA and NAIA competition.
Northeast Alabama Community College competed in Berry College's Victor Icebreaker Duals Saturday in Mt. Berry, Georgia. It was the second meet for the first-year NACC men's and women's track and field programs, which are led by head coach John Moore.
Williams turned in a fifth-place finish in the men's 3000-meter Steeplechase event after clocking a time of 11:42.99. The sophomore also finished eighth in the 400-meter hurdles race with a time of 1:03.99.
NACC also got solid finishes from its distance runners in the men's division. Freshman Ephan Benjume finished 33rd in the men's 1500-meter run (4:27.27) and 34th in the 800-meter run (2:11.66) for the Mustangs while freshman Jose Rodriquez placed 36th in the 800 (2:12.87) and 42nd in the 1500 (4:36.10) and freshman Henry Singleton was 38th in the 800 (2:13.25) and 45th in the 1500 (4:42.07). NACC freshmen Ethan Turner (2:14.20), Omar Teletor (2:21.31) and Maccoy Turner (2:32.27) finished 40th, 45th and 48th respectively in the 800-meter run.
Meanwhile, Dania Belman competed for NACC in the women's division. The freshman finished 40th in the women's 800-meter run (2:59.33) and 41st in the women's 1500-meter run (6:02.34).
NACC track and field athletes return to competition March 27 for Covenant College's Mountainside Stride Select Meet.
